Psalm 129—They rent lines on my back like I was a field.
"They have harried and vexed and tested and maddened me—even from my youth."
Rendition of Psalm 129
They have hurt me so many times. They have harried and vexed And tested and maddened me— Even from my youth. But they have not prevailed against me. They rent lines on my back like I was a field. Tbey stretched out their furrows And sowed fireseed that does not blossom But fruits malevolently where it lies. But the Lord Is righteous. The Lord is good. The Lord has cut the whips of the wicked. May all those who hate God’s people And God’s places be thrown back And hang their heads. May they be like grass that withers Before it roots and spreads, Before a harvest of strife Is reaped from it. But may the blessing of the Lord Rest on we who walk with him And may it keep us from wrong.

Such a vivid psalm. The lines in the back remind me of Jesus being scourged. Andy, what inspired the “fireseed” image?
Amen.
