Rendition of Psalm 42Lord, where are you? Where is your river I wanted? My soul’s throat drinks Salt tears and clicks shut. What is the count of days until I stand before you in the flesh?
One of my favorite Psalms for this- "Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls" - and you have comforted me with this rendition. "So I slip my prayers in the cracks
Between the times you never showed up, And the times you lifted me,
And set me home with you
Where the flood never touched."
So much water in this. Not just literal water, but life itself, from trickle to flood. You shared this at a time of unanswered prayer for me. But also at the moment of a great destructive flood.
David asks, 'Why would those who don't believe, believe in a God who would allow such tragedy, such loss?'
In your lines -not present in the Psalm itself - you reveal a bit of the answer. God is in "the cracks" and it can benefit us to see as deeply as we can why David's patient, loyal devotion was causation to future events for his line and kingdom. Why God saw him as a man after his own heart. Or more simply, how we can, in our own unremarkable lives, endure.
Planned or unplanned. Purposeful or not. These renditions bring value to my life. The space between what causes you to write and what causes me to read. I value what others help me to see. The undeterred panting trust of a wait buried in the Psalms and unearthed by you, gives me hope. To bolster another's hope is a great gift. Thank you.
Wow! Powerful! Thanks for pressing in to the Lord and fleshing our these truths. Beautifully written.
This is excellent.
Thank you for this.
Thank you, needed this one today.
